Jeff Mishlove : Intuition Networker Five Things Most People Don't Know About Me

Five Things Most People Don't Know About Me

Posted on Feb 12th, 2007 by Jeff Mishlove : Intuition Networker Jeff Mishlove

I've been "tagged" by Zaadster, Cynthia Larson, to post a list of five things that most people don't know about me. I think this may be difficult, because I have already posted so much about myself on this blog. But, here goes ....

(1)  I ran the Sedona, AZ, half-marathon race last Saturday. The distance is 13.1 miles, which I completed at a 15 minute per mile pace. That is the pace of a slow jog or brisk walk. (I also ran the Las Vegas half-marathon last December at about the same pace.)

(2)  A synchronicity. A week ago, on February 5, I posted a message to an e-mail discussion group of parapsychology researchers concerned with life after death. The message was about a South African researcher, Professor J. H. M. Whiteman, who had recently turned 100 years old. I was hoping that we could invite him to join our group. It was the first time, to my recollection, I had ever posted a message anywhere about Whiteman. The following day, I learned that Whiteman had died on February 5. (He was, incidentally, an experienced out-of-body traveler -- who also wrote extensively on the implications of his experiences for mathematics, physics and theology.)

(3)  I love karaoke.

(4)  Soaring Eagle. When I was eight years old, I joined the YMCA "Indian Lore" club in my home town of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. I was given the Indian name of "Soaring Eagle." This name has continued to have meaning for me -- and, at some deep level, I have always felt a kinship with native Americans. Interestingly, I told this story to Wilfred Wataname, one of the Hualapai elders whom I interviewed last week in Peach Springs, AZ. Later Wilfred told me that in the Hualapai language, my name would be translated to be a word that sounds like Suh - Nakte. I feel like this knowledge has given me a special connection with the Hualapai people. Thank you, Wilfred.

(5)  While traveling recently in Arizona, I listened to a potboiler novel on CDs. Apparently, it's a best-seller called Wild Fire. Almost all of my reading (including talking books) is of the non-fiction variety. But, I made an exception in this instance -- because my wife, Janelle, was also reading the book. And, I thought we'd have something to discuss. It was a spy/detective novel with an interesting political twist. I have to admit, I still vastly prefer non-fiction.
